I tend to keep quiet about how much I like Gossip Girl. I ought to like edgy shows such as The Wire but I don't, really. I tell everyone that I do, because otherwise the cool police will come and get me. But actually I watch Gossip Girl and talk about it in secret with Simon, my one friend who also admits to watching it.
High school: What better subject to mine for drama? In the grand tradition of "Beverly Hills, 90210" (the first version) and "The O.C.," "Gossip Girl" has become the trend-setting series du jour for a generation of high schoolers and anyone juvenile enough to revel in the hook ups and mishaps of rich teens run amok in New York City (this reporter included). Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Ed Westwick, Chace Crawford -- the series' stars are fast becoming magazine and blog staples, the soon-to-be kings and queens of young Hollywood. Though the show may not be a ratings powerhouse, its fan base is devout and all about the Web -- episodes consistently show up on iTunes' most-downloaded list. CW, Monday, 9 p.m.
Gossip Girl is taking a week off from the drama, and won't be returning with a new episode, "Carrnal Knowledge," until February 2. But there are definitely enough rumors, spoilers, and future casting leaks to keep us busy until then. Not to mention lingering big questions that are driving us mad, such as: whatever happened between Blair and Jack?!
Written & directed by Rebecca Miller, Blake co stars as the teenage Pippa Lee alongside Robin Wright Penn (as the older Pippa Lee) and Keanu Reeves, Winona Ryder, Monica Bellucci, Julianne Moore and Maria Bello. The IMDB synopsis has the drama about the central character of Pippa Lee who after her much older husband forces a move to a suburban retirement community she engages in a period of reflection and finds herself heading toward a quiet nervous breakdown. It will debut at the Berlin International Film Festival next month. No US date is scheduled yet. More information when it comes in.
Blake will co star alongside a side studded cast including Kevin Bacon, Orlando Bloom, James Caan, Chris Cooper, Julie Christie, Andy Garcia, Ethan Hawke, John Hurt, Shia LaBeouf, Natalie Portman. Debuted at Toronto Film Festival in September 2008 it will have a limited US release on 13 February 2009. Scheduled to be released in Spain on 10 April and in Germany in September 2009.

Miss Lively was accompanied by her rumored bf; Penn Badgley turned up for the Tribeca Film Festival Dinner thrown by the one and only' Chanel'. This is Blake's comment about her passion for Chanel; "I love clothes. Chanel is it for me. It's the top of the top. It's so silly how happy Chanel makes me" said Blake as she wore a Chanel frock of course." I own way too much. People have to intervene in my life — my business manager, my publicist and my friends tell me I have to stop going to Chanel" WOW!!
